Our Process

After we get you schedule for you appointment, we will show you the variety of stain and paint options. The next step is prepping your deck; making sure all the nails are flush, all paint chips are gone, all debris is wipe away, etc. After that, we sand if necessary in order to get the wood ready for the stain/paint. Then we carefully apply your chosen stain/paint. We will then wait 12-24 hours before applying a second coat in order to completely cover and protect your deck. Then, voila! Your deck is ready for your next party.

FAQ

Staining penetrates the wood and enhances its natural look, offering a more transparent or semi-transparent finish, while painting creates an opaque layer that covers the wood completely. Stains generally require less maintenance than paint.

Staining should typically be done every 2-3 years, while painting may last 5-7 years depending on the quality of the paint and the exposure to the elements.

Preparation includes cleaning the deck thoroughly, repairing any damage, sanding rough areas, and ensuring the wood is dry. It may also involve stripping old paint or stain if necessary.

Yes, but it’s important to prepare the surface properly. Old stain should be stripped or sanded if switching to a different color or type of stain. For paint, it’s necessary to scrape off any loose paint and sand the surface for better adhesion.

It depends on the look you want and the amount of maintenance you’re willing to do. Stains provide a more natural appearance and are generally easier to maintain, while paints offer more color options and can provide better protection but require more upkeep.

For stain, use either oil-based or water-based, depending on your preference and local environmental regulations. For paint, use high-quality exterior latex paint. Both should be specifically designed for outdoor use and decks.

Drying time varies by product and weather conditions, but generally, stains take 24-48 hours to dry, while paints can take 1-2 days. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Ideal conditions are mild temperatures (between 50°F and 90°F), low humidity, and no rain forecast for at least 24-48 hours. Avoid direct sunlight if possible, as it can cause the stain or paint to dry too quickly.
